Shelter Cats

June 15, 2013

Shelters are inundated with cats. Cats have it particularly hard.  Overall, they are not promoted as much as dogs. Less than half the number of cats than dogs are promoted for adoption. All animals in shelters need your help. The sad truth is more people still purchase animals as opposed to adopt animals. It's hard to believe.  Every year an estimated 4 million healthy cats and dogs are euthanized in animal shelters across the U.S.

  • That means 76, 924 cats and dogs are put to death every week
  • 10,989 companion animals put to death every day
  • Approximately 1 every 8 seconds.

Since June is Adopt a Shelter Cat Month, all the furry faces in this blog post are feline.  All of the cats below were on the euthanasia list at the Maricopa County Animal Care and Control facility in Phoenix, AZ before they were rescued by AZ RESCUE.  Many shelter cats make wonderful pets for the elderly.  They provide companionship and unconditional love.  Loneliness is heartbreaking for both people and animals.  The most remarkable cats waiting for a home to call their own.  Please adopt don't shop and save a life.

Thank you AZRESCUE.ORG for saving these remarkable cats.  As of the writing of this post, all of the cats pictured below are available for adoption. Some have been waiting for a home for several months.
